چکیده
Abstract We report the preliminary inter-satellite comparisons of in situ ion density measurements by velocity meter (IVM) onboard FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 (F7/C2) and Ionospheric Connection Explorer (ICON) missions, during solar minimum period December 2019 to November 2020. The initial reveal identical diurnal, seasonal, latitude/longitude variations two ion-density measurements, with F7/C2 consistently yielding stronger values than ICON, which could partly result from difference their orbit altitudes. diurnal variation equatorial region did not show any effect pre-reversal enhancement (PRE) 2019–2020. daytime plasma distributions larger densities over a narrow latitudinal belt around geomagnetic equator all seasons, low-latitude signatures hemispherical asymmetry, occurring summer hemisphere. observations also distinct wavenumber-4 longitudinal modulation, is most prominent equinox becomes less distinguishable solstice months. simultaneous IVM ICON provide opportunities study spatial configuration time evolution ionospheric irregularities low latitude regions. simultaneously observed bubbles (EPBs) Taiwan on 18 October 2020, are consistent each other. EPBs were an all-sky imager located Taiwan, comparing satellite observations. Graphical

Consistent β values from density-density and velocity-velocity comparisons
We apply a new algorithm, called the Unbiased Minimal Variance (hereafter UMV) estimator, to reconstruct the cosmic density and peculiar velocity fields in our local universe from the SEcat catalog of peculiar velocities comprising both early (ENEAR) and late type (SFI) galaxies. The reconstructed fields are compared with those predicted from the IRAS PSCz galaxy redshift survey to constrain th...
متن کاملThe Geometrical Comparisons of RSM and RFM for FORMOSAT-2 Satellite Images
In this paper, we compare the geometrical performance between the rigorous sensor model (RSM) and rational function model (RFM) in the sensor modeling of FORMOSAT-2 satellite images. For the RSM, we provide a least squares collocation procedure to determine the precise orbits. As for the RFM, we analyze the model errors when a large amount of quasi-control points, which are derived from the sat...

The contribution to the fieldionospheric F region and sources of the heavy ions aligned ionospheric ion momentum equation, due to which are accelerated to several electron volts at coupling between pressure anisotropy and the greater altitudes and subsequently flow from the inhomogeneous geomagnetic field, is investigated. ionosphere into the magnetosphere. متن کاملLong-term comparison of the ionospheric F2 layer electron density peak derived from ionosonde data and Formosat-3/COSMIC occultations
Electron density profiles (EDPs) derived from GNSS radio occultation (RO) measurements provide valuable information on the vertical electron density structure of the ionosphere and, among others, allow the extraction of key parameters such as the maximum electron density NmF2 and the corresponding peak height hmF2 of the F2 layer. An efficient electron density retrieval method, developed at the...
متن کاملLidar Technique for Measuring Ionospheric Barium Release Ion Density
An evaluation of the resonant fluorescence lidar technique as a method of measuring ion density during ionospheric barium releases is presented. We find that it is technically feasible to measure ion densities of 10 3 cm -3 at an altitude of 200 km with a time resolution of 0.5 s by using a ground-based laser and telescope. One application of the lidar technique would be observation of the crit...
